Alan Shearer: Newcastle United are "a match for anyone"

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer claims that his former club are a "match for anyone" on their day following the recent wins against Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer feels that the Magpies are a "match for anyone" when their first team are all fully fit.

Alan Pardew's side beat Chelsea 2-0 on November 2, before following it up with a 1-0 win against Spurs on Sunday, and Shearer thinks that the Magpies' best XI can get results against everyone in the division.

"If you put their first XI out then they will be a match for anyone," Shearer told talkSPORT.

"The spine down the middle of Tim Krul, Fabricio Coloccini, Yohan Cabaye and Loic Remy, who has started the season in fantastic form, there is not many better than that.

"That's what Newcastle will do this season. They'll have some great results and they'll have some poor results."

Pardew's side are currently ninth in the Premier League.
