Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has backed Vurnon Anita to become a success in the Premier League, should the Ajax defender complete an expected move to the Magpies.
The 22-year-old will reportedly undergo a medical this week after the two clubs agreed a fee of £6.6m, and Krul has backed his countryman to succeed in England.
"I've played with him since the Under-15 squads. I think he's ready for a move to the Premier League. His skill on the midfield and duelling is good enough for England," Krul told NUsport.
"I understood he has to reach an agreement himself, but I think we can use a versatile player like him very well."
Anita can also operate in midfield.
