Alan Pardew says he is "working on" strengthening his squad in the transfer window.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has admitted that he hopes to strengthen his side in the January transfer window.

The Magpies sit seventh in the Premier League table, just four points outside the top four after an impressive campaign thus far.

They have lost key duo Demba Ba and Cheik Tiote to the African Cup of Nations, however, and Pardew has said that he hopes to add to his squad.

"I'm not going to give anything away. I'm not going to take away our negotiating position but we are working on it," Pardew told talkSPORT.

Newcastle continue their league campaign at home to QPR next Sunday.
