Alan Pardew not looking to sell Papiss Cisse

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew insists that he is not looking to sell striker Papiss Cisse during the January transfer window.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has insisted that it would take a big fee for the club to be tempted to sell striker Papiss Cisse.

Cisse has not scored a Premier League goal for the Magpies since April, but Pardew has revealed that he has no intentions of allowing the Senegalese forward to leave St James' Park.

The 52-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I am sure that, come January, a lot of teams will be looking at our situation, but they'd have to spend a lot of money to get him.

"I would suggest to any club, just look at Mike Ashley's record of selling players. Would it cost a hell of a lot? Correct."

Cisse's only goal for Newcastle this season has come in the Capital One Cup.
