Newcastle United have expressed an interest in signing Aston Villa winger Jack Grealish amid the unfolding financial situation at Villa Park, according to a report.
The Championship club, which lost to Fulham in the playoff final last month, are rumoured to be on the brink of administration due to their huge outlay on wages and transfers over the past two years.
Grealish, one of Villa's main assets and a fan favourite, is believed to have been earmarked for a sale to help the club raise money.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez, meanwhile, reportedly wants to sign a forward-thinking, creative midfielder, with the England Under-21s player deemed to fit the bill.
According to Chronicle Live, the Magpies will continue to monitor the situation at the West Midlands club with a view to moving for Grealish.
The 22-year-old has also been linked with Leicester City, West Ham United and Everton.
