John Delaney: 'UEFA will not boycott election'

Ireland's Football Association chief executive John Delaney says that Friday's FIFA presidential election will not be boycotted by UEFA.

Ireland's Football Association chief executive John Delaney has claimed that UEFA will not boycott tomorrow's FIFA presidential election.

UEFA chief Michel Platini is expected to confirm that the body will back Prince Ali, the only opposition for Sepp Blatter, who is seeking a fifth term as president.

Delaney told reporters: "There wasn't a vote taken but Michel Platini will tell you UEFA is unified, whether all 53 transfer their votes over I don't know, I think one or two will be lost along the way.

Blatter has reportedly refused to resign from his role after FIFA officials were arrested on Wednesday following corruption claims.
