Sepp Blatter has reportedly refused to leave his role as FIFA president after a request from UEFA chief Michel Platini.
The 79-year-old held an emergency meeting with key FIFA officials earlier today, after the governing body was hit by a string of arrests regarding corruption claims.
Blatter met with Platini privately, reports BBC Sport, where the Frenchman asked the president to quit from his post.
The Swiss is seeking a fifth term as president, and Friday's election is still expected to go ahead, where he will face Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein.
Football Association chairman Greg Dyke stated earlier that the election should still go ahead.
