FIFA officials Jeffrey Webb, Sunil Gulati call for full report to be released

FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb and executive committee member Sunil Gulati urge for the full report from Michael Garcia into the World Cup bidding process to be released.

FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb and fellow executive committee member Sunil Gulati have called for US attorney Michael Garcia's full report into the World Cup bidding process to be released.

Judge Hans-Joachim Eckert announced his findings into the report by Garcia on Thursday, which he stated cleared Russia and Qatar of any wrongdoing in their bids to stage the World Cup tournaments in 2018 and 2022. The German official also criticised the behaviour of England and Australia in the process.

However, Garcia immediately hit back at the summary, claiming that his report had been misrepresented by Eckert. Meanwhile, Football Association chairman Greg Dyke and his Australian counterpart Frank Lowy were also critical of the process.

Webb and Gulati said in a joint statement: "Given the disagreement between the two chairmen of the Investigatory and Adjudicatory Chambers of the Ethics Committee and to ensure complete transparency we believe the full report conducted by the FIFA Ethics Committee into the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups should be made public as soon as possible.

"This can be done with appropriate redaction to protect any confidentiality required by the FIFA Code of Ethics. Providing the entire independent report for inspection is in the best interest of the game and FIFA."

Eckert revealed on Friday that he was surprised by criticism of his findings.
