Grant Holt rescues a point for Norwich City as they hold Everton to a 2-2 draw at Carrow Road.

Norwich City twice came from behind to secure a point in a 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday.

It was the away side who started the better, and they so nearly took the lead after three minutes with an effort from Darron Gibson, but it drifted wide.

Magaye Gueye was next to come close for the Everton after five minutes, but Ryan Bennett was on hand to make the block.

The away side continued to dominate possession as the half progressed, and Steven Pienaar brought a fine save out of Canaries goalkeeper John Ruddy after 17 minutes.

Ruddy could do nothing to prevent Everton taking the lead, however, and it came courtesy of Nikica Jelavic after 22 minutes when the Croatian converted a Phil Jagielka cross.

It might have been two moments later when Jelavic struck the post, but Tim Cahill somehow fired wide with the goal gaping.

Norwich continued to struggle for chances as the opening period progressed, with an Andrew Surman effort after 35 minutes their best of the half.

Norwich did equalise five minutes before the break, however, when Jonathan Howson finished from close range after fine work from Wesley Hoolahan.

The home side might have moved into the lead moments after the break, but Grant Holt fired wide from close range, before Howson tested Everton stopper Tim Howard from distance.

Everton regained the lead just past the hour mark with Jelavic's second, but a hint of controversy surrounded the strike with Pienaar seemingly holding the ball between his legs before finding the Croatian striker.

Norwich were level after 76 minutes, however, when Holt tapped home from close range after Aaron Wilbraham had tested Howard.

Marouane Fellaini came closest to winning it for Everton late on, but it wasn't to be, as the points were shared.

Everton remain in seventh in the Premier League table, while Norwich have moved into 11th.
