Former Nottingham Forest defender Kenny Burns believes that Mick McCarthy should be given the vacant managerial post at the City Ground.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss is currently undergoing talks with the club's new owners, the Al-Hasawi family, and Burns has backed the prospect.
"There is no nonsense with Mick. He was a no-nonsense centre-half, he was aggressive, he did things his way and he was a very hard opponent," he told talkSPORT.
"The last couple of managers we have had have been weak-willed. I heard players down there were doing what they liked. Mick will come in there and, if you don't like it, you will be away.
"I've heard Nigel Clough, Glenn Hoddle, Alex McLeish and I think the best one by far that stands head and shoulders above the rest is Mick McCarthy. I think he is the best man for the job."
McCarthy departed Wolves in February.
