Mark Warburton slams wasteful Nottingham Forest

Mark Warburton is unhappy with Nottingham Forest's wastefulness in front of goal as the Reds fell to a 2-0 defeat at East Midlands rivals Derby County on Sunday.

Mark Warburton has bemoaned Nottingham Forest's wastefulness in front of goal as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at East Midlands rivals Derby County on Sunday.

Matej Vydra and David Nugent scored for the Rams at the start of each half to leave the Reds heading back across the A52 empty-handed.

Forest threatened via Barrie McKay, Jason Cummings, Daryl Murphy and Tyler Walker, but were unable to convert their chances.

"It is about the quality of the performance and the quality of the chances you create. Possession does not mean anything otherwise," Warburton told the Nottingham Post.

"It is just a number. You can have 90% possession in your own half and not get a shot on goal.

"It is about being positive and dominating the play. Play through the thirds and create chances – and we have created chance after chance. But we have to take them.

"I am not going to say we need the rub of the green, because that is not good enough. We need to be clinical and I know how good these players can be. It was chance, chance, chance, chance."

Forest's defeat at Pride Park saw the Rams claim the Brian Clough Trophy and shunt the Reds into 14th place in the Championship table.
