Portsmouth say goodbye to the Championship with a defeat as Dexter Blackstock scores twice in Nottingham Forest's 2-0 win at the City Ground.

Dexter Blackstock scored a brace as Nottingham Forest beat Portsmouth 2-0 at the City Ground this afternoon.

The hosts had the first opportunity of the match as Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Adlene Guedioura shot powerfully, only to be denied by Jamie Ashdown.

The Pompey stopper was forced into another save soon after as Radloslaw Majewski tested him with a low strike.

Already-relegated Portsmouth rarely threatened against opponents who had themselves flirted with the drop this season.

When they did, it was former Derby County man Luke Varney who tested Lee Camp, but the Forest stopper turned his strike around the post.

Former Pompey boss Steve Cotteril sent his old team down to League One with a defeat as Blackstock secured the points by converting from Andy Reid's corner.
