Nottingham Forest confirm that they have signed Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Willy Boly on a two-year contract.

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they have signed Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Willy Boly.

Despite an array of fresh faces making the switch to the City Ground over the summer, head coach Steve Cooper has always insisted that more arrivals could occur on deadline day.

Forest have held an interest in Boly for over a week, the Ivory Coast international having less than a year remaining on his contract at Molineux.

Over the weekend, Boly failed to attend Wolves' Premier League fixture with Newcastle United, despite being selected in the squad by Bruno Lage.

After the game, the Portuguese stated that he felt Boly's no-show was an attempt to engineer a transfer to the East Midlands.

However, Cooper has now got his man with the 31-year-old penning a contract at Forest until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

While a fee has not been disclosed, it was reported earlier this week that Forest were spending in excess of £2m for Boly with a similar fee being paid to Wolves if Forest avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Last season's Championship playoff winners have now made 17 senior additions this summer, and it is not the first time that business has been conducted with Wolves.

In August, Forest signed Morgan Gibbs-White in a deal which could reach £42.5m if a number of ambitious add-ons are activated.

Boly departs Wolves after spending the last five years at the West Midlands outfit, making a total of 147 appearances in all competitions.

However, injuries and a loss of form restricted him to just 10 outings in the Premier League last season, and he was only regarded as third choice at the beginning of 2022-23.

Wolves have given the green light to a sale due to expecting to sign a replacement on Thursday, potentially Craig Dawson from West Ham United.

They were also linked with an approach for former Lyon centre-back Jason Denayer, currently a free agent, earlier in the week.
