Notts County have had a bid for Izale McLeod turned down by Crawley Town, according to the club's chairman.
The 30-year-old scored 21 goals for the Sussex outfit last term, but was unable to prevent their relegation to League Two.
Magpies chairman Ray Trew has revealed that Crawley turned down an offer of £100,000, but he hopes that Town reconsider.
He told the Nottingham Post: "I can confirm recent talk on social media platforms that the club is interested in signing Izale McLeod and that we yesterday had a bid of £100,000 rejected by his parent club Crawley Town.
"We respect their stance but we feel the money on the table is a rather substantial fee for a Football League player and we hope they'll reconsider their stance on this matter."
McLeod also played for MK Dons between 2004 and 2007, scoring 54 goals.
