Nuremburg comeback holds Hoffenheim

Nuremburg battle back from 2-0 down to claim a point against Hoffenheim on the opening weekend of Bundesliga action.

Nuremburg have produced a spirited fightback in their opening match of the new Bundesliga season, coming from 2-0 down against Hoffenheim to salvage a draw.

Hoffenheim were in control throughout and nearly took the lead early on though Kevin Volland, who went close after a clever chip forward from Roberto Firmino.

After 34 minutes the hosts broke the deadlock through David Abraham, who connected with a curling corner from Sebastian Rudy.

Summer signing Anthony Modeste doubled Hoffenheim's advantage soon after the break, but Nuremburg swiftly responded as Mike Frantz reduced the deficit with a powerful header.

Just two minutes later Daniel Ginczek smashed home an equaliser for Nuremburg to stun the home crowd.

The hosts were forced to survive a late onslaught as Nuremburg went in search of a winner, but Hiroshi Kiyotake's drive in stoppage time flashed wide as an end-to-end clash finished all square.
