Pescara have sacked coach Cristiano Bergodi following Sunday's defeat to Udinese in Serie A.

The 1-0 home loss was enough to leave the team six points from safety at the bottom of the table.

"The club thanks the coach for his hard work and the passion he showed in carrying out the role," read a statement on the club's official website.

"The club can also confirm that the name of his successor will be revealed in the next 24 hours."

Bergodi joined Pescara in November 2012 after the resignation of Giovanni Stroppa.
