Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson is delighted after their 7-1 win over Ipswich Town.

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson believes that their 7-1 win over Ipswich Town at London Road will be remembered by their fans for a long time.

Keith Andrews had given the visitors a first-half lead, but a hat-trick from Lee Tomlin and braces from both Paul Taylor and Grant McCann ensured a comfortable victory for the hosts.

"I couldn't be more delighted with my players. To win a game of football 7-1 at any level is a terrific achievement, but to do it in the Championship against a team of Ipswich's standing is nothing short of magnificent," he said.

"I'm sure this will be a day that everyone will remember for a long time and it is not just the final result that pleases me.

"I thought we were excellent when we carved Ipswich open time and again to get 4-1 up before they had players sent off."

Peterborough are currently fifth in the table having picked up seven points from four games, while Ipswich are 20th with just three points.
