John Sheridan is confirmed as the new manager of League Two strugglers Plymouth Argyle.

John Sheridan has been named as the new manager of League Two club Plymouth Argyle.

The 48-year-old has replaced Carl Fletcher, who was sacked by the Pilgrims on New Year's Day.

"I am very privileged to get this opportunity to manage the club," Sheridan told Plymouth's official website. "Everyone I've talked to says what a good club it is and what potential there is.

"I am very confident I can get us out of the position we are in if everyone - the players and fans - work together."

Argyle are currently one point from safety in the League Two table.
