Porto remain keen on Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba?

Porto reportedly remain keen on signing Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba before the end of the summer transfer window.

Porto have allegedly maintained an interest in signing Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba.

The 23-year-old has been at St James' Park for the past three campaigns, but the DR Congo international does not feature in the plans of Rafael Benitez.

Porto were linked with an approach soon after the end of the season, and according to A Bola, the Portuguese giants are still looking to push through a deal for the player.

However, as it stands, Porto are not willing to pay Mbemba's asking price, with the Magpies allegedly demanding a fee in the region of £8m.

That is close to the fee which Newcastle paid two years ago, but Mbemba was relatively inactive last season and has not made a senior outing since the end of January.
