Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani has suggested that he is no longer friends with teammate Neymar, saying that players do not need to be friends on the pitch.
Cavani and Neymar clashed during PSG's 2-0 win over Lyon on September 17 when the former refused to allow Neymar to take a penalty, and speculation over their relationship has risen ever since.
The two strikers have been in prolific form for the French side, with PSG six points clear after nine games.
"My football culture is a little bit different to other cultures," Cavani told reporters.
"For me, what happens inside the dressing room stays there. Afterwards, there are some people who like to talk a lot and like to say and invent things that did not happen like that.
"We do not need to all be friends or like a family. What it takes to be professional on the pitch. It is necessary to respect your colleagues and give 100%."
PSG travel to Anderlecht in the Champions League on Wednesday before playing Marseille in league action on Sunday.
