Harry Redknapp offers Queens Park Rangers job backing to Les Ferdinand

Recently-departed Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp believes that Les Ferdinand has what it takes to become R's boss on a full-time basis.

Harry Redknapp believes that Les Ferdinand is capable of taking over the Queens Park Rangers managerial position on a permanent basis.

The 67-year-old stood down from his role in charge of the R's yesterday afternoon, citing a pending knee operation as the reason behind his surprise departure just hours after the transfer window slammed shut.

Ferdinand will now take charge at Loftus Road alongside academy boss Chris Ramsey, and Redknapp has backed the duo to continue in their duties full time.

"It's up to Tony [Fernandes] and the shareholders who they decide to pick," he told Sky Sports News. "Les is taking over and I am sure Les can do the job without a problem. He is a football man, knows the game, has been a top player.

"I think the players are there and, with one or two coming back this week, I think that will make a massive difference to the team."

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has been installed as favourite to land the vacant position.
