Jay Bothroyd insists that he wants to stay and fight for his place with Queens Park Rangers.

Jay Bothroyd has rejected speculation that he is keen to leave Queens Park Rangers this month.

The 29-year-old only joined Rangers during the summer but has found starting opportunities at Loftus Road limited.

With new manager Mark Hughes close to agreeing terms with Brazilian striker Henrique, it appears that Bothroyd could soon find himself even further down the pecking order.

However, the England international has insisted that he wants to fight for his place with the R's.

"It's all just been rumours. I don't want to go anywhere, I've got a lot of belief in myself and I want to be successful at QPR," Bothroyd told London24.com.

"New signings don't bother me - to be a successful team you have to have a big enough squad. You have to welcome it, and raise your own game.

"There's always going to be criticism and I accept that, but I believe in myself. Some of the best strikers in the world go through bad patches - that's football."

Bothroyd signed for QPR on a free transfer from Cardiff City.
