Harry Redknapp: 'We need to bring in right characters'

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp insists that the club have learned from their past mistakes in the transfer market and will target players with character this summer.

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp has revealed that he will be looking to bring players with the "right character" to the club this summer following their promotion to the Premier League.

Redknapp's side defeated Derby County in the Championship playoff final to earn their place back in the top flight after just a season away.

The 67-year-old has admitted that the club have learned from their past mistakes in regard to their transfer policy.

He told reporters: "We're not just going to bring players in willy-nilly. We've got to make sure anyone who comes in is the right character and will come in and do a good job for the team. That's all that's important.

"And it'll be a scrap everywhere else. I've not even thought about a player. I've not even thought about what kind of player we're looking at, because you don't know what division you're going to be in."

Rangers have been linked with a move for Rio Ferdinand following his release by Manchester United.
