Dave King given Rangers clearance by Scottish Football Association

Dave King is given clearance by the Scottish Football Association to become Rangers chairman.

The Scottish Football Association has given Dave King clearance to become Rangers chairman.

King, 60, was voted onto the board at Ibrox Stadium back in March.

The businessman had been previously been convicted of offences relating to income tax in South Africa. King was also part of the Rangers board before the club went into administration and subsequent liquidation.

However, following rigorous checks and seeking "specialist independent legal advice", the SFA has given King the green light.

"On the basis of this advice presented to it, and having considered all submissions received from Mr King and the club in respect of this matter, the Scottish FA Board granted an approval, conditional upon further submissions from Mr King in respect of documented agreements with the appropriate authorities in South Africa," read an SFA statement.

"The Scottish FA can confirm it has now received this supplementary documentation in full and the Board is satisfied Mr King is fit and proper in terms of Article 10.2."

Rangers play the first leg of their Scottish Championship playoff semi-final on Wednesday when they welcome Hibernian to Ibrox Stadium.
