New Reading signing David Meyler suggests that he was tempted to move to the Madejski Stadium due to the winning mentality of head coach Paul Clement.

New Reading signing David Meyler has suggested that he is excited to work with head coach Paul Clement.

Earlier this week, the Royals announced that they had brought in the experienced midfielder from Hull City on a free transfer.

Reading ended the most recent campaign just above the Championship relegation zone, but Meyler feels that an improved season is possible under Clement.

The 29-year-old is quoted by the Reading Chronicle as saying: "If you look at his CV, I know he's been assistant manager and coach at some massive clubs throughout Europe.

"He has experience of winning, he knows what it takes to win and that's what it's all about, really. It's about winning games and in the Championship, it's a tough division.

"It's a 46-game season so there are a lot of Saturday-Tuesdays, and we've got to try and win as many games as we can."

Reading prevailed in just 10 of their 46 league fixtures this season.
