Alex Pearce refuses to discuss his future and instead focuses on Reading's bid for Premier League survival.

Reading defender Alex Pearce has insisted that he is fully committed to the club's ongoing fight against relegation.

The centre-back has been widely tipped to leave the Berkshire-based outfit in the summer when his current contract is due to expire.

Despite refusing to comment on his future, the 24-year-old has expressed his eagerness to play a part in the team's upcoming matches.

"As far as that goes, all I am thinking about is keeping Reading in the Premier League. That is my one goal. Everything else will take care of itself," he told the Reading Post. "Who knows what the future holds?

"Hopefully we can keep Reading in the Premier League. I'm not thinking about in a year's time or anything like that.

"All I'm thinking about is the next 10 games and staying in this league. We were written off at the start of the season. No-one expects us to stay up and we will take that on board and look to exploit it."

Pearce, who joined Reading as a trainee in 2001, has recently been linked with a switch to Liverpool.
