Reading manager Brian McDermott admits that his squad requires bolstering with experience next month.

Brian McDermott has conceded that he would like to add some experienced Premier League players to his squad during the January transfer window.

The Royals are bottom of the table following last night's 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal.

Speaking after the match, McDermott revealed that he had held talks with the club's Russian owner Anton Zingarevich regarding potential new recruits.

"It would be good to see if we could get two or three players who have played at the top level," he told reporters. "They need to know the level and have played there and been there, seen it and done it, whether we can do that or not time will tell and we will see.

"I had a discussion. We had a four-hour meeting the other day and talked about players coming through the door."

McDermott's team travel to champions Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
