Carlo Ancelotti: 'Arda Turan red card made a difference'

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti concedes that Arda Turan's red card did make a difference in their Champions League quarter-final victory over Atletico.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that Arda Turan's sending-off during this evening's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid changed the match.

The scores were still locked at 0-0 at the Bernabeu when Turan was shown a second yellow card for a high foot on Sergio Ramos, although there appeared to be little contact between the two players.

Ancelotti would not be drawn on whether he thought the dismissal was fair, but conceded that it had an impact on a game which he believes his side had "good control" over anyway.

"Tonight we played a good game, we had good control. We didn't give them a chance to counter-attack," the Italian boss is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"We found the right solution in the last minutes. Of course the sending off made a difference, I don't know if it was right or not. It was a game with intensity but the players showed good fair play."

Real Madrid went on to win the match 1-0 courtesy of a late Javier Hernandez strike, securing their place in the semi-finals alongside Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
