Fabio Coentrao suffers sprained ankle

Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao suffered an ankle strain in Saturday's 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano, it has been confirmed.

Real Madrid have confirmed that Fabio Coentrao suffered an ankle strain in Saturday's 3-2 win over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.

The Portuguese picked up the knock in the first period of the clash in Madrid, before eventually being forced before the interval.

"After tests carried out on Fabio Coentrao at the Sanitas La Moraleja Hospital, it has been confirmed that he has a sprained left ankle, which will continue to be monitored," a statement on the club's official website read.

As a result, the 25-year-old will miss the Champions League clash against Juventus on Tuesday.
