Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is left out of the squad for the Champions League semi-final second leg against former club Real Madrid due to an adductor injury.

Arjen Robben has been left out of Bayern Munich's squad for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

The 34-year-old was forced off after just eight minutes of the first leg at the Allianz Arena last week due to an adductor injury, which condemned him to a place in the stands for Saturday's 4-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

Robben returned to training on Sunday - albeit away from the rest of his teammates - to raise hopes that he could recover in time to face his former club in Tuesday's second leg.

However, the veteran Dutch winger has not been named in Bayern's squad for the trip to the Bernabeu, where the German champions must score at least twice to progress.

Bayern travel to the Spanish capital trailing 2-1 on aggregate at the halfway stage of the tie having failed to make the most of their chances in the home first leg last Wednesday.

The Bavarian outfit have been knocked out of the Champions League by Spanish opposition in each of the past four seasons and are winless in their last six visits to the Bernabeu since 2001.
