James Rodriguez 'ready to rival Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo'

Bayern Munich attacker James Rodriguez insists that he can rival Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the best players in world football.

Bayern Munich attacker James Rodriguez has said that he is ready to rival Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the best players in world football after leaving Real Madrid on loan this summer.

The 26-year-old joined Bayern on an initial two-year loan after struggling for regular football at Los Blancos during the 2016-17 season.

James has impressed for the German champions during pre-season, and he has insisted that he is ready to reach the level of Messi and Ronaldo during his time at the Allianz Arena.

"Why not? They are big players. I'll be ready for what happens in the future and improve in world football," James told reporters.

The Colombian international has netted 36 goals in 110 appearances for Real Madrid following a 2014 move from Monaco. Last season, he scored 11 times in all competitions, but he started just 13 matches in La Liga.
