Roberto Martinez comments on Real Madrid link

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez suggests that he is not in the running for the Real Madrid job despite recent reports.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has suggested that he is not in the running for the Real Madrid job.

Los Blancos are currently searching for a new manager following the departure of Julen Lopetegui.

Santiago Solari is currently in charge of first-team affairs, but the club's former midfielder is seemingly not being considered as a potential long-term solution.

Former Wigan Athletic and Everton boss Martinez has been linked with the position in recent days, but the Spaniard refused to discuss the Madrid post when questioned.

"Let us not waste our time about that," Martinez told VTM Nieuws.

Martinez has a contract with the Belgium national team, who he led to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup, until 2020.
