Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata: 'We dropped two big points'

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata admits that his team dropped two big points in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Las Palmas.

Alvaro Morata has refused to play down the importance of Real Madrid's dropped points in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Las Palmas in Gran Canaria.

The Madrid giants looked to be closing in on their fifth La Liga win of the campaign when Karim Benzema netted in the 67th minute, but a late equaliser from Sergio Araujo saw the points shared.

Los Blancos remain top of the table - one point clear of second-placed Barcelona, but Morata, who was a second-half substitute on Saturday, has claimed that the draw could prove decisive at the end of the season.

"They were two points needed to win the league. We should've won, but we were unable to. Now we'll continue working and give everything," Morata told reporters after the match.

"[Las Palmas's equaliser] was difficult to explain, it was something in the game. We drew and now we'll analyse it, but what's true is that we must always give everything to win the league."

Real Madrid have won four and drawn two of their six league matches this season. The team's attention will now switch to the Champions League as they prepare to travel to German outfit Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.
