Jose Mourinho says that he was not interested in a second spell with Real Madrid, despite being heavily linked with a return to the Bernabeu.

Jose Mourinho has suggested that he was not interested in a return to Real Madrid before the Spanish giants announced the return of Zinedine Zidane.

The future of interim boss Santiago Solari has been up in the air for a number of weeks, and it was revealed on Monday that Zidane had accepted an offer to have a second spell at the Bernabeu.

Mourinho had been heavily linked with another period at the La Liga side, but the Portuguese has insisted that he was not contemplating a reunion with Los Blancos.

The 56-year-old told BeIN Sport: "Would I go back to a club I've been at before? If I thought it was the right club, right structure, the right ambitions, no problem at all.

"It is a reason of pride when a club where you worked before wanted you to come back. The only moment where I had this feeling was with Chelsea, not with Real Madrid."

Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked as Manchester United manager in December.
