Real Madrid confirm appeal against FIFA transfer ban

Real Madrid confirm that they will appeal against their two-window transfer ban.

Real Madrid have confirmed that they will appeal against the two-window transfer ban that they were hit with by FIFA earlier today.

Both Real and rivals Atletico Madrid were banned from signing new players in this summer's and next January's transfer windows over their transfer dealings with players under the age of 18.

In a statement on their website, Madrid detailed the allegations of wrongdoings brought against them by FIFA and insisted that they were "absolutely untrue".

The club went on to say: "As a result, Real Madrid CF will appeal this decision of FIFA in all the sporting incidents, considering them absolutely inappropriate."

If Real take their appeal all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the ban will be delayed and the club will still be able to sign players until the ban is either upheld or eradicated.

Atletico have also signalled their intentions to contest the ban.
