Robinho reveals his reason for leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.

AC Milan playmaker Robinho has revealed that he left Real Madrid after being made to feel unwanted by the La Liga giants.

The 28-year-old moved to Spain in 2005 but failed to make his mark at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Robinho was subsequently sold to Manchester City for £32.5m three years later.

The Brazilian said that he felt "sorry" for leaving Real, but he was left feeling undervalued after the club's efforts to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

"I had some great moments there, but my farewell was a disappointment," he told band.com. "Real wanted to buy [Cristiano Ronaldo] and all of a sudden they were no longer interested in me.

"I feel really sorry for the way I left Madrid, but the fans don't always understand what happens in these cases. I did not feel valued and wanted to leave."

Robinho joined the Rossoneri in 2010 for a fee of £15m.
