Denis Cheryshev open to Villarreal stay

Real Madrid attacker Denis Cheryshev reveals that he would be interested in joining Villarreal, whom he represented on loan during the 2014-15 season, on a permanent deal.

Denis Cheryshev has revealed that he would be interested in joining Villarreal on a permanent deal this summer.

The Russian international spent the 2014-15 season on loan at the Yellow Submarine from Real Madrid and contributed seven goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

As it stands, the 24-year-old will return to Real Madrid this summer, but he has never played a first-team game for Los Blancos despite joining back in 2002.

"As far as I know there hasn't been any interest from Madrid," Cheryshev told Sport.

"If everybody involved reaches an agreement I'd be delighted to stay at Villarreal. Here people have always shown me kindness and I'd like to continue to repay that with my efforts and my performances."

Cheryshev, who has seven international caps to his name, has also previously been on loan at Sevilla.
