Paul Clement: 'Gareth Bale not leaving Real Madrid'

Real Madrid assistant coach Paul Clement insists that Gareth Bale will not be leaving Los Blancos, despite speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Real Madrid assistant coach Paul Clement has insisted that Gareth Bale will not be leaving Real Madrid.

The Champions League winners are currently being linked with Liverpool's Raheem Sterling, but speculation linking the England winger with a possible move to La Liga has also been dismissed by Clement.

There are reports in Spain that Bale's form and fitness is becoming an issue for Real, who bought the Welshman from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 for a record £85m fee.

The concerns are now creating rumours that link Bale with a return to the Premier League, but Clement insists that the 25-year-old remains a key part of their squad.

"I don't know where the speculation has come from. I have a really good relationship with Gareth, we talk daily and he has never told me in any conversation that he is unhappy or that he is planning to return [to England]," Clement said, according to Goal.com.

"He has signed a long contract with Madrid [until 2019] and I see him playing a big part in the future of the club over the next four or five years.

"There will always be speculation, if not around Bale, then Cristiano Ronaldo and whether he will return to Manchester or end his career in Madrid. This is the nature of the game at a big club like Madrid."

Bale's teammate Cristiano Ronaldo has also been linked with a return to the Premier League, as reigning champions Manchester City are allegedly lining up a world-record fee for the forward.
