Real Madrid are reportedly still eager to sell James Rodriguez this summer, despite manager Zinedine Zidane wanting to retain the Colombian.

Real Madrid are reportedly still eager to sell James Rodriguez, despite manager Zinedine Zidane requesting that the Colombian stay at the Bernabeu.

Rodriguez spent the last two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich, but the Bavarians decided against making the move permanent this summer.

According to Don Balon, however, Zidane is the only member of Los Blancos' hierarchy that wants to retain the 28-year-old, with club president Florentino Perez desperate to offload him.

The former Monaco man made his first appearance for Madrid in over two years against Real Valladolid on Saturday, playing 57 minutes before being replaced by Vinicius Junior in his side's frustrating 1-1 draw.

The player himself is understood to be eager to remain at the Bernabeu and believes he can become a regular fixture in the team again.

Atletico Madrid and Napoli are among the teams that have been chasing Rodriguez's signature this summer, but now seem unlikely to get their man.
