New Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has reportedly requested that the club's board make Mario Gomez his first signing.
It has been suggested that Zidane, who replaced the sacked Rafael Benitez at the Bernabeu helm earlier this week, is keen to secure the services of a striker to act as cover for Karim Benzema.
According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, Besiktas frontman Gomez is the Frenchman's preferred choice to fill that role.
The Germany international is currently on loan with the Istanbul-based outfit from Serie A side Fiorentina.
So far this season the 30-year-old has scored 15 goals from his 22 outings in all competitions.
