Robbie Keane fires warning to Germany

Republic of Ireland hitman Robbie Keane says that a defeat is not on the agenda when he and his international teammates clash with Germany on Tuesday.

Robbie Keane has warned Germany that the Republic of Ireland will be travelling to Gelsenkirchen for their Euro 2016 qualifier on Tuesday to "give it a right go."

Martin O'Neill's side head into the clash on a high after thumping Gibraltar 7-0 in Dublin tonight to move to second in Group D on six points.

Poland top the group after beating the world champions 2-0 earlier this evening, and Keane - who hit a hat-trick in tonight's rout at the Aviva Stadium - says that his teammates can achieve the same feat.

"We are certainly going to go there and give it a right go, no doubt about that," he told RTE Sport. "They might be world champions but we believe we can go there and get something."

Keane struck a 12-minute treble as the Boys in Green boasted a three-goal half-time lead, before James McLean added a fourth in a devastasting 10-minute spell after the break.

Goalkeeper Jordan Perez then scored an own goal to make it five on 52 minutes, before McLean and Wes Hoolahan added gloss to the result shortly after.

Kickoff in Gelsenkirchen is scheduled for 7.45pm and the game will be covered live by Sports Mole.
