Roy Keane still keen to return to management

Republic of Ireland assistant Roy Keane says that he would still like to return to club management at some stage of his career.

Republic of Ireland assistant Roy Keane has said that he still has ambitions to return to club management later in his career.

Earlier this week, both Keane and Ireland boss Martin O'Neill committed their immediate future to the Green Army but while Keane has said he is delighted to spend more time with his country, he has admitted that he still hopes to gain another chance in club football.

The 44-year-old told reporters: "I had to wait to see what the manager's plans were and things fell into place over the last few days that he wanted to stay on and me be a part of it. I didn't really hesitate to say yes.

"I'm 44 years of age, there's plenty of time for [management]. I am keen to get back into it. When I previously said I wanted to return in the short term, I meant in the next few years - not the next few weeks.

"We are really happy to stay on. I'm really enjoying the job with the staff and players. It has been really enjoyable.".

Republic of Ireland begin their Euro 2016 campaign against Sweden on Monday evening.
