Slow start costs Wycombe Wanderers at Rochdale

Wycombe Wanderers' attempted comeback falls just short as their six-game unbeaten run comes to an end with a 3-2 defeat at Rochdale.

Wycombe Wanderers' attempted comeback fell just short as their six-game unbeaten run came to an end at Rochdale this afternoon.

Dale were 3-0 ahead inside the opening 15 minutes thanks to goals from Scott Hogan, Joe Bunney and Michael Rose.

Wycombe eventually got their act together midway through the first half and their improved performance was duly rewarded on 42 minutes when Matt McClure reduced the deficit to two.

Jo Kuffour, whose last league goal had come 22 games ago in January, scored 32 minutes from time to set up a grandstand finish.

However, despite late chances falling the way of McClure and Leon Johnson, Wycombe were unable to find the equaliser, as Rochdale hung on for a victory that moves them up to fifth place in the League Two table.
