Rochdale sign former Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Slew on free transfer

League One club Rochdale announce the free transfer signing of former Blackburn Rovers and Plymouth Argyle forward Jordan Slew until January.

League One club Rochdale have announced the signing of free agent Jordan Slew until January.

The 25-year-old forward, who began his career at hometown club Sheffield United, was unattached after leaving Plymouth Argyle in June.

Slew went on to sign for Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2011 and was on their books for four years, during which he enjoyed loan spells at Oldham Athletic, Rotherham United, Ross County and Port Vale.

A move to Cambridge United followed before he went on to join Chesterfield and Plymouth, making over 30 appearances for the latter during the 2016-17 season as they secured promotion from League Two.

Speaking after he put pen to paper, he told the official Dale site: "It has been a rough couple of months but as soon as I knew Rochdale wanted me, I jumped at the chance.

"Rochdale are a strong League One side and I know that they did well last year and were unlucky not to get in the playoffs. It's a very good club and there are a lot of good players here.

"The gaffer here won't accept anything less than your whole best every day in training. It's a hard-working club, and that's what I need. I'm just looking forward to getting started - it's time to get my head down and do the business."

Slew was eligible to take part in Rochdale's League One meeting with Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night, making the matchday squad as a substitute.
