Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman has moved to suggest that he is on schedule to be fit to play again next season.
The Manchester United target missed the back end of last campaign and the World Cup with an anterior cruciate ligament injury, and has not played for Roma since November because of another injury disruption that required surgery.
"Contrary to reports in the media I am back in training and working hard on my comeback," Strootman said as part of three posts on Twitter.
"Please don't believe people who have never seen me in their lives, but just follow the social pages of me and AS Roma where we will keep you updated on my progress.
"Just for the record, I'm right on schedule to be back when preseason starts."
Strootman is known to be a long-term target for Louis van Gaal, who wants to bring the Dutch playmaker into the United set-up.
