Knowing that their fate lies in their own hands, Romania conclude Euro 2024 Group E on Wednesday, scrapping with fellow three-point side Slovakia in Frankfurt.
Romania will hope that their defence can once again keep the opposition at bay, with the likes of Tottenham's Radu Dragusin proving key to his national side's defensive resilience over the past couple of years.
This can be seen by the fact that no other Romania player has made more clearances per 90 than the defender's 8.5 at Euro 2024, and his tenacity was on full display in his team's 3-0 victory against Ukraine last week on Monday.
The centre-back's club manager Ange Postecoglou, who appeared as a pundit covering Romania's defeat against Belgium, praised his player's brave passing as well as his love of defending.
Dragusin will likely form part of a defence that consists of Andrei Ratiu, himself, Andrei Burca and Nicusor Bancu.
Marius Marin will likely be positioned at the base of midfield alongside captain Nicolae Stanciu and Razvan Marin.
No player in the Romanian squad has registered more accurate passes per 90 than Razvan Marin at Euro 2024, and his ability on the ball will be needed to help launch counter-attacks against Slovakia.
In the forward line, Denis Dragus will likely start as his team's central striker and could be supported by Dennis Man.
Valentin Mihaila did start on alongside Dragus on the left last time out against Belgium on Saturday and while he may start again on Wednesday, it would not be a surprise to see Florinel Coman on the pitch at some point during the game considering he started Romania's win against Ukraine and that Mihaila was substituted in the loss to Belgium.
Romania possible starting lineup: Nita; Ratiu, Dragusin, Burca, Bancu; M Marin; Man, R Marin, Stanciu, Mihaila; Dragus
