Steve Evans upbeat despite Rotherham United defeat

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans insists that he was pleased with his side's performance despite their 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Rotherham United boss Steve Evans has revealed that he is upbeat despite his side's 2-1 loss to Nottingham Forest in their Championship match.

The Millers took the lead through Danny Collins, but Forest got back into the game on the stroke of half time as Matthew Mills found the net.

Dougie Freedman's men took the lead in the second half when Michail Antonio turned the ball in from close range, and the winger's goal proved to be the difference between the sides at the City Ground.

Evans told BBC Sport: "We played with a lot of energy all over the pitch. There were some outstanding performances and we were only let down by the officials.

"They had two chances to score and they scored two goals. Perhaps we could have defended the second one a little bit better. But if we play like that in the Championship for the rest of the season we will come away with a lot of points.

"We have come to play a fantastic football club, in Forest, with good, good players and we are really pleased with our performance. We will get better as well, as the season goes on."

Rotherham play Preston North End in their next outing.
