Lee Evans swaps Wolverhampton Wanderers for Sheffield United

Sheffield United announce their third signing of the week after bringing in Wales international Lee Evans from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wales international Lee Evans has joined Sheffield United on a permanent deal from Championship rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, penning a three-and-a-half-year contract at Bramall Lane.

The 23-year-old had been tipped to depart the West Midlands this month following the conclusion of his loan spell with League One side Wigan Athletic.

Evans, handed his Wales debut in November's 1-1 draw with Panama, was used 23 times by Wigan during the first half of the campaign and has now joined the Blades for an undisclosed fee.

United boss Chris Wilder is delighted to get the deal over the line, having also brought in James Wilson on loan from Manchester United and Ryan Leonard from Southend United.

"Lee is a great age with his best years ahead of him. We've watched him and monitored his progress for a while and we're delighted to get him permanently," he told the club's official website.

"He is a young international, he fits in with what we're about and is an excellent player who we hope will add further depth and competition to our midfield."

Evans spent his formative years with local club Newport County before joining Wolves, where he made 59 league appearances in his five years at the club.
