Carlos Carvahal: 'Sheffield Wednesday had a lot of chances'

Carlos Carvalhal claims that Sheffield Wednesday controlled their Capital One Cup tie against Oxford United.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has suggested that reaching round three of Capital One Cup is his team's "main achievement", despite only narrowly beating Oxford United.

The U's were unable to recreate their 4-0 giant-killing against Brentford in the last round as Atdhe Nuhiu's header sent the Owls through.

Speaking after Wednesday's victory, Carvalhal claimed that his side controlled the tie and he hinted at possible transfer business before the end of the window.

He is quoted by the club's official Twitter feed as saying: "We are into the next round and that is our main achievement tonight.

"I think the story of this game was that we had control of the match and we had a lot of chances.

"We will see what happens before the transfer window shuts, but I am sure we will be stronger after this."

Wednesday are currently 10th in the Championship after their 1-1 draw with Yorkshire rivals Leeds United at the weekend.
