Mauricio Pochettino: 'The draw flattered Stoke City'

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino says that the 2-2 draw with Stoke City was not an accurate reflection of his side's performance.

Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Southampton's 2-2 draw with Stoke City was not an accurate reflection of this afternoon's clash at the St Mary's Stadium.

The Saints were twice pegged back in their pursuit of victory, with Rickie Lambert and Steven Davis watching their efforts cancelled out by first-half strikes from Peter Crouch and Peter Odemwingie respectively.

He told reporters: "We deserved to win that game, taking into account we took the lead twice in the game. The final result is disappointing.

"We were facing a very tough opponent and the most physical side in the Premier League. We were creating most of the chances and were unlucky not to get the third goal.

"Overall, we were superior to Stoke. The result does not reflect the superiority."

Pochettino's men, who remain ninth in the Premier League table, face Hull City at the KC Stadium on Tuesday.
